‘By the time you’ve finished reading this paragraph, the world will have lost another football pitch of soil. At current rates of erosion, 90 percent of our planet’s soil could be gone by 2050, according to the UN.’

Duncan Cameron, Grantham Management Team, explains the grave threat of soil erosion in The Ecologist. But he argues that academics need to do more than write papers about this problem, but put theory into practice. Examples of this type of action include the work of Grantham Scholar Harry Wright and Grantham Centre project at the Za’atari refugee camp.
