Tom Neal is one of our Post-Doctoral Research Associates working on the Plastics: Redefining Single-Use project. He works on Single Use Plastics in a Circular Economy.
Tom is a chemist specialising in the field of polymer chemistry. He completed his Masters in Chemistry here at the University of Sheffield, where he stayed to undertake a PhD partly funded by AkzoNobel as part of the Polymer, Soft Matter, and Colloids CDT.
His PhD thesis focused on studying the self-assembly of amphiphilic statistical copolymers using X-ray scattering techniques.
Tom is currently working on the compatibilisation of polyethylene and polypropylene using processing techniques such as shear-induced crystallisation as well as utilising copolymer additives.
