Jana at Uppsala University

In March 2023, Jana got awarded the University of Sheffield’s Erasmus+ staff mobility funding. Thanks to that she got to spend a week at CEMUS, Uppsala University, Sweden. Similar to the Grantham Centre, CEMUS is an interdisciplinary centre focusing on sustainability education and research.

During her stay at Uppsala, Jana gained a valuable insight into how a different university sustainability centre operates. She attended several classes and training sessions together with the CEMUS students and made lots of new connections. She brought many ideas back to Sheffield on how to improve the way the Grantham Centre works. This includes ideas for new training sessions based on the students’ feedback or a possibility for collaboration between CEMUS and the Grantham Centre. Jana also hosted a successful reciprocal visit of a CEMUS representative in September 2023.

One of the direct outcomes of Jana’s staff mobility visit to Uppsala University is her restarting the Grantham Centre sustainability series. The first event in the series that Jana organised was ‘Reflections on COP28: Talking the talk or walking the walk?’ which was held in February 2024.
