Water purification by zeolites supported on carbide foams

Grantham Scholar Changyan Zhou is researching low cost water purification technology.

The project

Water is source of life but now water shortage is a worldwide challenge, posing a great threat to people all over the world. Converting dirty water to clean water via effective purification technology is one way to solve this problem. However, high-efficient water purification technology always relies on superior porous materials.

The project aims to develop low cost water purification technology. Low cost water purification involves the preparation of advanced ‘zeolite + foam’ catalyst materials and the application of synthesised materials into phenol solution. In order for this to be sustainable, green experimental conditions are needed. Examples include low temperature and low pressure.
